Frequently asked questions

Will my PDF's layout, images, and formatting carry over?

No — this tool extracts text only. Columns, images, tables, and font styling aren't preserved, since recreating a PDF's exact visual layout in an editable Word document reliably isn't something that can be done accurately client-side. It works best for text-heavy documents where you just need the words in an editable format.

What happens with scanned PDFs that have no real text?

Pages without a text layer are automatically run through OCR to extract their text, so scanned documents still convert — just be aware OCR accuracy depends on scan quality.

Why isn't this pixel-perfect like some paid tools?

Fully preserving layout would require a much heavier conversion engine than this tool intentionally uses. It trades layout fidelity for being fast and instant — no processing queue, no waiting.

Does this work with PDFs in languages other than English?

Text extraction works with any language the source PDF encodes normally. OCR for scanned pages supports a more limited set — results are most reliable with English and other Latin-alphabet text.
