Frequently asked questions
Will OCR change how my document looks?
No — the recognized text is added as an invisible layer on top of the existing page image, so the page looks exactly the same but becomes selectable and searchable underneath.
What if some pages already have real text?
Those pages are detected automatically and left alone — OCR is only applied to pages that don't already have a text layer, so you can safely run this on a mixed document.
How accurate is the text recognition?
It depends on scan quality — clean, high-resolution scans of typed text recognize very well, while blurry scans or handwriting will have more errors.
What languages does OCR support?
Recognition works best with English and other Latin-alphabet languages — accuracy on other scripts will vary.
